You see, traditional convection heating warms the air. Warm air is damp air which then condenses on cold surfaces (such as walls, window frames and furniture). Many other forms of heat like oil and gas boilers require insulation around the heat source and along pipes and often (like electric storage heating) behind the radiant panel (like a radiator) itself. Infrared does not require this.

Traditional heaters typically require some form of flue or chimney and some form of storage facility for their fuel. The requirement to store fuel also implies a delivery cost. Boiler, gas and oil heating replacement by infra-red eliminates these bulky, draughty, dangerous installations.
